Abhinandan Raj, MD, founded Denton Digestive Institute, located in Denton, Texas. The practice is dedicated to providing a patient-centric gastroenterology service to treat a wide variety of digestive diseases. Digestive issues affect almost everyone, and he provides compassionate and proficient care with his advanced knowledge. He is board-certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. 

Dr. Raj has been in private gastroenterology practice since 2004. He leverages his extensive experience in gastroenterology to treat patients with even the most complex digestive issues with comprehensive, personalized, and evidence-based care. His approaches include consultation, lab and imaging studies, endoscopic evaluation and therapy, pharmacologic approaches, surgical referrals as required, and more. He is proficient in basic and advanced gastroenterology procedures, including Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy (EGD), Biliary endoscopy (ERCP), Capsule endoscopy, RFA treatment of Barrett's esophagus, and more. Dr. Raj sees patients 12 years of age and older.

Dr. Raj's journey began at prestigious Bangalore Medical College in India, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) before earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) postgraduate residency degree at prestigious King George's Medical College in Lucknow, India. He then moved to the United States to complete another residency in internal medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, Illinois, where he also served as acting chief resident. Dr. Raj went on to complete a year of hepatology fellowship followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at Loyola University in Chicago, where he also served as a chief fellow. 

Dr. Raj has published over 40 gastroenterology and hepatology publications in major medical journals and textbooks and has received a number of awards. He has experience in hospital leadership committees to improve patient care quality and outcomes.
